In the '"Blank Space" of Your Life, God Can Write a New Story for You.

Have you ever felt like you’re stuck in a BLANK SPACE? Like the pages of your life are completely empty, and you have no idea what the next chapter is going to look like? As a Warrior Mom, those moments hit harder than any other because we’re not just carrying our own burdens, we’re carrying our child’s too. It’s overwhelming! The uncertainty, the fear, the wondering if you’ll ever get to the other side.

But here's the thing, those blank spaces aren’t empty. They’re filled with possibility. The space where you feel lost, stuck, or uncertain, that’s exactly where God’s hand is at work, even if you don’t see it yet. Hold on...

Taylor Swift’s “Blank Space” tells a story of unpredictability, of mistakes and redemption. And as I listened to it, I thought, we’re all living in those unpredictable moments, especially as moms. The curveballs, the things we didn’t expect, those are the moments where God is doing His most powerful work! Sometimes we have to let go and let God!

Embrace the Blank Space
It’s tempting to try to fill that void with anything and everything we think we "
should" be doing. But I’ve learned that when I try to fill it on my own, I only make a MESS of things. Most often, it's in those empty, uncomfortable spaces where God does the most refining. Where He starts to rewrite your story in a way you couldn’t have imagined. Those “blank pages” are really just His canvas. And believe me, God’s about to paint something beautiful, but you just have to hold on. 🩷

As Taylor Swift sings, “I’ve got a long list of ex-lovers”, we all have a long list of experiences that have shaped us. But you know what? God isn’t looking at your “mistakes.” He’s looking at your potential, your promise, and your purpose. The blank space is NOT a failure; it’s where He’s about to do something BIG.

A Personal Story from My Journey
I’ll never forget the moment I was sitting in my car, overwhelmed with guilt and uncertainty about Chloe’s struggles and the "purpose" of it all. I was so tired mentally, emotionally, and physically. It felt like every step I took led me deeper into the unknown. I didn’t have the answers, and I sure as heck didn’t feel like I was doing enough.

But in the silence of that car, God whispered to me, “I’ve got this. You are not alone.” And in that moment, I felt the weight start to shift. I had been trying to “fill” the blank space in my life with my own solutions. I was trying to control the entire process. But God was inviting me to let go, to rest, and trust that He was already at work behind the scenes.

Isaiah 41:10 says, “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” God’s promise was bigger than the fear and guilt I was carrying.

It wasn’t about having the answers right away. It was about surrendering to His timing and trusting that He was writing the next chapter of our story. One that, through the pain, would be used for His glory and purpose. God was crafting a story that would testify to His faithfulness and strength, turning our struggle into something that would impact others for His kingdom. 🩷

How to Trust God With the Blank Space

  1. Let Go of Control: We are natural planners, especially as Warrior Moms. But here’s the thing, the blank space is an invitation to SURRENDER. To let go of the reins. I know how hard it is for us to release control, (I am an OCD control freak 🤗), we can trust that God’s got this. He knows what we can’t see.

  2. Lean into Your Faith: When the road ahead seems unclear, God’s Word is the light that leads us. Psalm 25:4 is my daily prayer: “Show me your ways, Lord, teach me your paths.” When we don’t know the way forward, we can trust that He’s leading us every step of the way. My old childhood pastor used to say "when you can't trace His hand, trust His heart."

  3. Rest and Recharge: Blank spaces are often moments of REST, even though we may not recognize them at first. I had to learn to stop rushing. To stop pushing myself to have everything figured out. To PAUSE (I now call this the Warrior Mom PAUSE). I needed to allow God to renew me.

Isaiah 40:31 reminds us, “But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength.” Take this time to rest in His presence. Your strength comes from Him, NOT your never ending to-do list.

  4. Embrace the Process: The blank space might feel frustrating, but it’s where God is doing some of His most important work. Just like the process of planting a seed, it looks like nothing is happening for a while, but under the soil, things are growing. Think of it like an artist staring at a blank canvas. From our perspective, it seems empty, unfinished, but the artist already has a vision in mind. They know exactly what they’re creating, even though we can’t see it yet. In the same way, God is working on His masterpiece in our lives, carefully and purposefully. We may not understand the strokes and shades as they happen, but one day, we’ll see the beauty of His design come to life.

Isaiah 64:8“Yet you, Lord, are our Father. We are the clay, you are the potter; we are all the work of your hand.”

A Warrior Mom’s Declaration:
I declare that even in the blank spaces, God is working! Even when I can’t see the next step, He’s already there, leading me toward something beautiful. This chapter isn’t the end of my story, but just the beginning of something new and beautiful.

So, Warrior Moms, the next time you find yourself in a season that feels like a blank space, remember:
God is still writing your story! He’s not finished yet. Trust that the empty pages in your life are filled with His love, His grace, and His divine purpose. And when you’re feeling unsure, let Psalm 34:18 remind you: “The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” 🩷

🦋 God is close. And He’s working, right in that BLANK SPACE.
