What You Consume, You Become: The Truth We Don’t Talk About Enough 🤯
📖 “Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.” Proverbs 4:23
There’s a phrase I’ve been saying a lot lately, mostly to myself, and now to you:
What you consume, you become.
And I don’t mean food.
I mean the INPUTS that shape your mind, your nervous system, your emotions, and your spirit.
Because the truth is this:
Most women aren’t exhausted because they’re weak.
They’re exhausted because they’ve been consuming things that drain them instead of strengthen them.
And I learned this the hard way.
🩷 When What I Was Consuming Started Consuming Me
During the darkest season with Chloe, the things I “consumed” weren’t toxic shows or negative people, it was FEAR.
In my book, Warrior Mom Rising, I write about the night I stood outside her bedroom door, pacing the hallway back and forth, barely breathing with every sound and every silence. My body was shaking. My heart was racing. My mind was running ahead to every worst-case scenario a mother fears but rarely says out loud.
I had spent hours reading articles, scrolling forums, researching symptoms, looking for answers, for CONTROL.
But every Google search added another layer of panic.
Every article fed my anxiety.
Every whisper of “what if” shaped how I moved, slept, and prayed.
I wasn’t consuming hope.
I wasn’t consuming truth.
I wasn’t consuming God’s voice.
I was consuming fear, and fear was consuming me.
This verse is the reminder we ALL need!!

Everything!
My peace.
My decisions.
My reactions.
My sleep.
My ability to show up for Chloe.
It all flowed from what I had been feeding my mind and spirit.
That night became a turning point.
I realized I was consuming fear far more than I was consuming faith.
We like to believe we’re strong enough to handle anything and we are, but WITH God, NOT without Him.
But the reality is this:
You can’t binge chaos and expect peace.
You can’t consume negativity and expect clarity.
You can’t surround yourself with toxic people and expect growth.
You can’t fill your mind with fear and expect your faith to flourish.
Our nervous system is always listening.
Our spirit is always absorbing.
Our thoughts become patterns, and patterns become beliefs.
You cannot sow fear and expect to reap peace. Can I get an AMEN?
💥 The Power of Your Words: Life or Death
God doesn't mince words here:
📖 “The tongue has the power of life and death.” Proverbs 18:21
What you speak becomes what you believe.
And what you believe becomes how you live.
When you repeatedly say things like:
“I’m exhausted.”
“I’m failing.”
“I can’t do this.”
“Nothing ever changes.”
Your nervous system and your spirit take those words as commands.
It’s not “just venting.”
It’s shaping your atmosphere.
But here’s the good news:
If your words can tear you down, your words can build you back up.
🦋 Start Consuming What Brings Life
If you want peace, consume peace.
If you want clarity, consume truth.
If you want healing, consume things that heal.
Start filling your life with:
✨ Worship
✨ Scripture
✨ Gratitude
✨ Words that align with who God says you are
✨ People who speak life, not drama
✨ Environments where your nervous system can breathe again
This isn’t “self-care fluff.”
This is spiritual warfare.
This is nervous system regulation.
This is choosing LIFE on purpose.
❌ Release What Steals Your Peace
Sometimes healing starts with subtraction, not addition.
Let go of:
✘ Toxic relationships
✘ People who drain your spirit
✘ Fear-based media
✘ Shows that spike anxiety
✘ Voices that don’t align with God’s truth
✘ Self-talk that wounds instead of heals
🔥You cannot heal in the same chaos that broke you. Let me say that again, You cannot heal in the same chaos that broke you!!!
And you cannot access peace while feeding your spirit things that keep you in survival mode.
🌻 A Prayer for You
“Lord, guard my heart and mind.
Help me choose what brings life, not fear.
Silence the voices that don’t sound like You.
Strengthen the ones that do.
Renew my mind so I can become who You created me to be.”
