Right in the Middle of a Miracle

Right in the Middle of a Miracle 🦋
Today I had a pre-interview with a podcast host, the kind where they screen you to see if your story will resonate with their listeners.
From the moment she popped up on zoom, she was instant joy. The kind of person you feel like you’ve known forever within thirty seconds of meeting them. She shared a little of her story and her mission, then asked me about mine.
As I spoke, we laughed, not the “polite” kind of laugh, but the I get you kind of laugh. I knew she understood exactly how I felt. We talked with ease the entire time, and with 27 seconds left on the clock, she smiled and said, “I’d love to have you on the show.”
Grateful doesn’t even begin to describe it.
🩷 A Song in My Car and a Holy Nudge
After we wrapped up, I got in my car and turned on some music. Lately, I’ve been listening to A LOT of Emerson Day. She is my new favorite artist with her rock, country, Christian sound that somehow speaks to my soul in ways I didn’t know I needed.
Her song “Middle of a Miracle” came on, and it immediately spoke to me. The lyrics felt like they were written for me in that exact moment:
You're crying out for answers
'Cause you never guessed
That you would be here
That it would look like this
You're trying to hold it all together
With your own two hands
And He's telling you to let it go
And let Him in
You don't see it
But you're right in the middle of a miracle…
As those words filled my car, chills covered me. Because it was exactly what we had just been talking about on zoom. Surrender.
No one ever expects trauma. No one wakes up thinking, Today I might lose everything.
But when the unthinkable happens, when mental health breaks, when a loved one dies, when the home you built is gone, we question God. We scramble for control. We try to hold it all together with our own two hands.
This beautiful host I spoke with today knows that pain. She’s lost her brother, her husband, and her home in a short span of time. I don’t know every detail of her story, but I know this, she hit rock bottom. And in that place, she surrendered everything to God.
And God… showed up. Showed out. Made beauty from ashes for her and her children.
🩷 The Hard Beauty of Letting Go
Surrendering sounds nice on paper, but let’s be real, it’s one of the hardest things you’ll ever do.
From where we stand, all we can often see is ashes, wreckage, and mess. We see the broken pieces, the loss, the emptiness and we can’t imagine anything good coming from it.
But God sees the whole picture.
He sees the story from beginning to end.
And His view isn’t limited by our pain.
The host told me that when she surrendered, God told her to leave the classroom, her safe, controlled space she’d been in for years and to start a podcast. She had never imagined that for herself.
And I laughed because, like her, God told me to do something I never saw coming.
Last fall (2024), in the middle of our journey with Chloe’s mental health struggles, God told me to write a book. I’ve been in medicine for over 20 years. I knew my nurse practitioner role inside and out and I assure you, being an author was not in my plan.
But because God can see the beautiful big picture and because His plans are always higher than ours, I had to surrender and trust Him. But here’s the thing, surrender doesn’t mean everything suddenly gets better or the pain disappears. It means you’re no longer carrying it alone. It means peace in the middle of uncertainty and freedom in the middle of the storm, because you know the weight is in His hands now, not yours.
🔥 "For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the Lord. “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts." Isaiah 55:8-9
Today, we laughed because neither of us thought we’d be doing this, writing, speaking, blogging, recording podcasts, yet here we are. And now? Our missions are aligned to help women and moms find hope, to build community, and to bring glory to God.
🩷 Why Surrender Matters
Here’s the thing about surrender:
It’s not giving up, it’s giving over.
It’s not weakness, it’s trust.
It’s saying, “God, I can’t, but I know You can.” 🦋
And when we let go, we open our hands for Him to place something better in them. We make room for Him to move in ways we couldn’t have imagined!
You might be standing in ashes today, but you might also be standing right in the middle of a miracle.
🔥 “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight.” Proverbs 3:5-6
🩷 Warrior Mom Takeaway
If you take nothing else from this blog, take this,
God doesn’t need your perfection, just your willingness.
🩷 So here’s your challenge:
Pick one thing you’ve been holding on to, and surrender it to Him today. Write it down. Pray over it. And trust that even if you can’t see it yet, He’s already working.
You may just be right in the middle of a miracle!
With lots of love,
