Anxiety Isn’t Always Loud: A Warrior Mom’s Call to Pay Attention 🦋
Momma, anxiety doesn’t always scream. Most of the time, it whispers. And if we’re not paying attention, we can miss it.
I’ll never forget when I first started noticing the shift in Chloe. She was always tired, too tired for family movie nights she once begged for. The laughter that used to roll through our home grew rare. Grades were drastically slipping. At first, I told myself the lies we all whisper: It’s just school stress. It’s just hormones. She’s just a teenager.
But deep down, in my spirit, I knew. Something wasn’t right. That momma-nudge, that knot in my stomach, it wasn’t paranoia. It was discernment. It was the Holy Spirit whispering, Pay attention.
And I couldn’t ignore it.
🩷 Anxiety Hides in Plain Sight
Here’s the truth: anxiety often disguises itself.
✨ It looks like exhaustion your child can’t shake.
✨ It looks like irritability over the smallest things.
✨ It looks like slipping grades or hours spent locked behind a closed bedroom door.
✨ And sometimes, it takes the form of self-harm, a desperate attempt to release pain they can’t put into words.
These are not just “teenage moods.” They are silent cries for help.
And Momma, when Chloe’s struggle became clear, I had to face one of the scariest truths of motherhood: I couldn’t fix it. No matter how hard I tried, no matter how much I wanted to take the pain away, this was a battle too big for me to fight in my own strength.
🔥 What You Can Do If You Notice These Signs
Momma, if you’re starting to notice these shifts in your teen, here are a few things that helped me:
1️⃣ Pray before you panic.
Take a deep breath and ask God for wisdom. Sometimes we rush in with fear, but prayer helps us step in with love.
2️⃣ Ask open-ended questions.
Instead of, “Are you okay?” try, “I’ve noticed you seem more tired lately, can you tell me about that?” This opens a door instead of shutting it.
3️⃣ Write down what you see.
Keep notes of behaviors, sleep changes, or mood shifts. This not only helps you see patterns but equips you when you talk to a doctor, therapist, or teacher.
4️⃣ Bring in support.
You don’t have to carry this battle on your own. Reach out to a trusted friend, a counselor, a pastor, someone who can stand in prayer and wisdom with you.
Momma, these steps do NOT mean you’ll fix it all overnight. But they remind you that you’re not powerless, you’re showing up, you’re leaning into God’s wisdom, and you’re creating space for your child to be seen and heard without judgement.
🩷 The Warrior Mom Difference
But here’s what makes you a Warrior Mom: you don’t ignore the whispers. You lean in. You listen to that God-given discernment. You fight, NOT with frantic striving, but with steady faith.
Being a Warrior Mom doesn’t mean you have all the answers. It means you refuse to look away. You step into the fire with your child, trusting that God’s wisdom and presence will guide you.
“If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.” James 1:5
When Chloe was struggling, I had moments where I doubted myself. I wondered if I was failing. But that stirring in my heart to keep pressing in, to keep advocating, to keep praying, it was God reminding me, You’re not powerless, because you’re partnered with Me.
“Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9
“God is within her, she will not fall; God will help her at break of day.” Psalm 46:5
Fear wants you to believe you’re helpless. But here’s the truth:
💜 When you don’t know what to do next, PRAY.
💜 When you don’t know how to reach your teen, invite God into the conversation.
💜 When the door feels closed, remember, His Spirit can go where your hands cannot.
The same God who entrusted you with your child is the One who equips you to intercede, to discern, and to fight.
“But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and remind you of everything I have told you.” John 14:26
For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline.” 2 Timothy 1:7
🦋 Warrior Mom Truth
I know the fear. I know the sleepless nights. I know what it feels like to wonder if you’re enough. But I also know this: God has not abandoned you or your child.
⭐️ You are not failing, you are rising.
⭐️ You are not powerless, you are partnered with the Most High God.
⭐️ You are not alone, He is with you every step.
This story is not over. And with Him, there is always hope.
Momma, He is close to you. He is close to your child. And He is writing a story that is not finished yet.
📖 “The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” Psalm 34:18
